Each item is purchased in multiples of a pack: 6, 12, or 24 pieces, depending on the product. The package is the one the item is packaged in at the factory, and breaking it costs someone a job. The number is listed on each catalog card: if a package seems too large to start with, it almost always means that item isn't the first one to try—it's best to start with items with smaller pack sizes and work your way up.
